MASTER PROGRAMME STUDY PLANS

Students of the Master Programme in Computer Science must have a study plan (“percorso formativo”) in force to book and take exams.

WHAT IS A STUDY PLAN?

A study plan defines the set of teachings a student plans to attend and clear during their first and second year.

Students cannot book or take any exam without an approved study plan.

Hence, students of the Master Programme in Computer Science must submit their study plans for approval at the beginning of their first year.

A study plan already in force can be revised by submitting for approval a new plan which includes all teachings whose exams have already been cleared.

WHEN CAN STUDENTS SUBMIT OR REVISE THEIR STUDY PLAN?

Students can submit their study plans at most once per year during the following period:

From October 1 of each year until the following February 28.

The committee will evaluate submitted plans periodically as follows:

Study plans still pending evaluation cannot be changed. For this reason, we warmly recommend students to pay great attention when submitting their study plans, and to do so only when they have clear ideas about which teachings to attend (at very least in their next year).

HOW TO SUBMIT A STUDY PLAN?

Study plans must be submitted using the online submission system called “Percorsi Formativi” reachable from within Infostud.

WHEN DOES AN APPROVED STUDY PLAN COME INTO FORCE?

Students whose study plans are approved will receive a notification to their institutional email address.

Study plans approved between October and December will come into force from the following January 1. This means that, for a student to take any exams in the session held from September to December, the associated teachings must belong to their study plan already approved in the previous academic year.

WHAT HAPPENS IF A STUDY PLAN IS REJECTED?

Students whose study plans are rejected will receive a notification to their institutional email address with the reasons for rejection and further recommendations to fix the problem.

Such students need to submit a new study plan by the deadlines above. Meanwhile, their previously approved study plan (if any) still remains in force and can be used to book and take exams.

HOW DO STUDY PLANS AFFECT THE POSSIBILITY TO BOOK OR CLEAR EXAMS?

The Infostud system forbids students to book and clear an exam which is not included in their study plan currently in force.

The consequence of the above rule is that students who have no approved study plan in force cannot book or take any exam.

We summon students to not attempt to take exams which are not (yet) in their approved study plan. This is simply not possible and may result in exam annulments and other administrative serious issues.

ARE THERE EXCEPTIONS TO THE ABOVE RULES?

Yes, but only students who are going to spend time abroad according to the Erasmus programme. They may ask assistance from the study plans evaluation committee for immediate changes to their study plan, should they find serious administration problems at the hosting institution.

ARE THERE PRECISE GUIDELINES AND RECOMMENDATIONS ON THIS MATTER, AND MEANS TO ASK FOR ASSISTANCE?

Yes. Students are warmly advised to carefully read the Study plans section of the guidelines and recommendations website managed by the course programme council.
